Our Story

"Briahna and I met online in 2020 as university students on opposite sides of the globe. We met in person for the first time in Chicago in April 2022. I brought tulips and snapdragons, and Bri brought enthusiasm and chaos. (This has not changed.) Over the next few weeks, we woke up holding hands, made a tiny snowman, discovered my 7kg cat secretly sleeping on my chest was the cause of recent sleep apnea, went to every cute date spot in Madison, Wisconsin, and Bri watched me eat an unreasonable amount of oysters.
I went to Melbourne for Christmas that winter (summer for Australia!) with the intention of taking Bri back to the states with me for a few months. The universe works in strange ways, and six months later, in June 2023, I moved to Melbourne, Australia."

By Car

Nathania Springs is located in Monbulk, Victoria, approximately 60 minutes from Melbourne CBD. Complimentary onsite parking is available for all guests.If you have not driven on mountain roads before, note that driving to Monbulk involves a noticeable change in elevation and many twisty-turny roads. Please drive with caution, especially after dark!Recommended routes:
• From Melbourne CBD, travel via the Eastern Freeway and exit onto Burwood Highway towards Ferntree Gully; or via the Monash Freeway and exit onto Ferntree Gully Road towards Ferntree Gully.
• From Olinda, take Olinda–Monbulk Road.
• From Belgrave or Mount Evelyn, take Monbulk Road and turn onto Olinda–Monbulk Road.
• From Emerald, take Emerald–Monbulk Road and turn onto Olinda–Monbulk Road.Please note that some GPS services may direct visitors onto unsealed roads. We recommend following the routes above where possible.

By Plane

For guests travelling from interstate or overseas, the nearest airport is Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), approximately 75–90 minutes from Nathania Springs by car, depending on traffic. We highly recommend staying in or near the CBD (Central Business District) for a night or two minimum before attending to rest and adjust.Rental cars, taxis, rideshare services, and airport transfers are readily available from the airport. If traveling to Melbourne's CBD or Box Hill (eastern suburb), you can also take the Skybus. Please reach out via our contact form if you have any questions - we'd love to help!If you are making a weekend of it, the Dandenong Ranges offer a wonderful opportunity to explore the area. Many guests choose to stay locally and enjoy the cafes, restaurants, gardens, and boutique shops throughout Monbulk, Olinda, Sassafras, Kallista, Sherbrooke, and Mount Dandenong.

FAQ

What do I need to prepare?

Please carefully read the dress code below and prepare an appropriate outfit for the event.
As the celebrations begin at 2:00pm, we recommend having lunch or a late brunch beforehand.
We'll have a wishing well available for cards on the day. For those who would like to contribute, our registry is also linked on this website.

What's the dress code?

🤵🏻 Formal attire required. Suits, evening wear, cultural attire, and all gender expressions welcome. For those wearing pants, please wear a nice shirt & slacks (no t-shirts, jeans, or shorts). Please avoid white, ivory, and predominantly black outfits. Bright colours encouraged!

What are Rye's pronouns?

🌈 Rye is nonbinary and exclusively uses they/them pronouns.

Can i bring a plus one?

To keep our celebration intimate, attendance is limited to those named on the invitation. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate additional guests or plus-ones, including children. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

what time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Plan to arrive at 2:00 PM/14:00 to ensure time for parking and seating pre-ceremony.

when is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by September 1st, 2026. Due to catering and other event arrangements, we will not be able to seat you if you do not respond by this deadline.

will the wedding be indoors, or outdoors?

Weather permitting, our ceremony will be outdoors, followed by an indoor reception. We have an indoor ceremony backup at the same site.
Temperatures at this time of year averages a high of 18°F/65°F, but it's Melbourne, the city of "Four Seasons in One Day".

can I take pictures too?

Please do not take pictures during the ceremony as we will have a professional photographer and videographer. You are welcome to take pictures at all other times!

what if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Not to worry, we can accommodate this! There's a dedicated section in the RSVP form to give us all your details.

are there other wedding-related events?

We are planning a group visit to Healesville Animal Sanctuary Saturday afternoon, Nov 7th, 2026.
